NextGenBioPest in the Research and Innovation Webinar on Pesticides and Integrated Pest Management!

The NextGenBioPest project took center stage during the first day of the Research and Innovation Webinar on Pesticides and Integrated Pest Management, a two-day event co-organized by DG SANTE and DG AGRI. This landmark webinar aimed to bridge the gap between research and regulation, fostering collaboration to facilitate the uptake of innovative pest management solutions within the EU market.

As one of the key projects presented under the theme of Innovative Plant Protection Solutions and Novel Application Techniques, NextGenBioPest contributed valuable insights into sustainable pest management strategies. The project aligns with the EU’s objectives to reduce reliance on chemical pesticides while promoting environmentally friendly alternatives.

The webinar attracted over 280 participants on Day 1 and 200 on Day 2, including national regulatory bodies, risk assessors, and public researchers. Throughout the event, 49 speakers and panelists presented 39 research and innovation projects, covering various EU-funded and national initiatives. NextGenBioPest was among the 19 Horizon projects showcased, reinforcing its role in pioneering next-generation biological pest control solutions.

During the breakout sessions, the NextGenBioPest team highlighted cutting-edge advancements in biopesticide formulations, efficacy studies, and integration into existing agricultural frameworks. The project’s emphasis on practical applications and regulatory compliance resonated with both researchers and policymakers, fostering meaningful discussions on how to accelerate the adoption of biological alternatives in EU agriculture.

The day concluded with an engaging panel discussion, where experts from research and regulatory sectors exchanged perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in modern plant protection. This interaction provided crucial takeaways on aligning scientific innovation with policy frameworks to ensure the seamless introduction of bio-based solutions in the EU market.

With its participation in this high-impact event, NextGenBioPest continues to make strides in advancing sustainable agriculture through innovative, science-driven solutions.
